Work at Home Books

In the comments on a previous post about Work at home Resources. The topic of all the junk that is on the internet about working from home. And there is a ton I have read countless ebooks that have not helped me with my business in anyway.

Well tonight I thought maybe I would check Amazon for some books to since I am almost out of printer paper maybe I’ll just order a book have it here by Friday and that way I will have something to read on the plane when I go to California Friday evening. Makes sense right?

Girls Guide to building a million dollar businessWell I did find a ton of books on there covering everything about business, if you have checked out any book store I am sure you would agree. So that made things tougher. So I started searching for WAHM, I found a few things nothing that peeked my interest a few things I read the excerpt and well it wasn’t anything thrilling more like fluff if you ask me. So I went on to work at home left out the mom still nothing really.

I did eventually find a book The Girls Guide to Building a Million Dollar Business that sounds pretty good so I got that. I will let you know what I think on Wed or so when I get home and finished reading it. Another one that looks good I did not order wasWork@home: A Practical Guide for Women Who Want to Work from Home I think this will be my next book read. For me getting to many books at once I get over whelmed and then nothing gets read.

All of this got me thinking that yes on the internet there is a lot of useless stuff regarding business and how to do it. This I can understand. What I don’t really understand is how there can be so much fluff in business books that are published. I realize that a lot of times books (both ebook and hard cover) come in various levels to help different levels of working from home. But some of the stuff is beyond me on how it got published. Perhaps it is their writing that just does not make any sense to me personally maybe the same book may peep someone elses interest.

My Honest thoughts are to go with your gut. I mean we all have that little bug inside of us that says this is trash or this will help from reading the back cover. when in doubt read an excerpt or a few pages (if you can) Doing this helps get a better feel for the authors writing and if it will help you.

See Opinions, If your searching Amazon check the reviews and the comments about the book. If it is an online book Do a Google search of the title and read what others are saying, also ask on any message board or communities if anyone has read it. Also Read the testimonials, They are there for a reason usually there is a name and url maybe more contact information. Visit their site see if they talked about the book. If not email them and ask them for any addition opinions or recommendations on the book. If someone takes the time to write a testimonial on a book they really got something out of it. Maybe they can help you figure out if its the right fit for you. Maybe they have other recommendations on the topic as well. So reasearch the books you get.

I do find a lot of really helpful resources as I said I will share them on Sundays. I have found a few people that really know their stuff so I never take a second thought at taking a course from them or getting a new ebook when they launch it. On others I do really take a look at it. I wont pass on anything I personally have not read, or plan on reading. I will do my best to help filter some of the junk and things that you may come across.
