Using Your Name When Networking

Thank you for coming back to visit, Have you signed up for my newsletter to receive business and blogging tips? the sign up box is on the right.

This is a pet peeve but it also is good practice.  A lot of net workers are using their business name as their name when commenting on blogs and what not.  Well If you ask me it seems kinda spamish.  Most blog owners want to get to know their visitors.   Yes many of us do visit blogs and comment as part of our networking and marketing strategy which is an effective way to do it, However using a site or nickname does not really build trust or relationships with those that are being visited.

Using your name helps you becoming a real person in this huge cyber world and it helps people want to know more about you and click on your links as well as want to do business with you.  With Networking we are trying to get ourselves out there and build relationships so others can use your services and products and perhaps share you with their other friends.

For example I have a friend Mary she is looking for a new logo for her website and asks me if I know of anyone.  I take a glance at who I network with and know.   Its much easier to answer with ‘Oh yea Kathy Jo does great work she owns XYZ Graphics’ since Kathy Jo took the time to get to know me and share herself with me by using her name she is a real person to me. Where as only used her XYZ Graphics as her name I would not have given her a second thought.

If you own a business and want others to get to know you and trust that you know what your doing its a better idea to use your name from the start to build relationships.
