WAHPs are not Amazon Nor Walmart - Tighten Your Niche

I have been asked to brain storm business ideas and names with more and more people lately. I am happy to do so since I learn a lot from it too. One thing lately I have heard a lot is they want to serve everyone. Well this idea has always gotten me stumped. I tried to focus as much as I could then went from there. I recently heard on a podcast the same idea that you need to focus on one group of people.

I ask why they want to serve everyone and explain its really not possible, and 9 times out of 10 I get ‘Well Wal-mart does’ Or ‘Amazon does it’ both very true statements. However if you look at either company and how long they have been around for them it is possible, they also have a very large marketing budget so they can because of that way too.

caos Both companies started off small the grew with time. So is it possible for us the little guy to be that big yes it is possible, however probably not with out knowing what we are doing and a lot to put in to your business. Am I saying to just give up? Heck No you can make a pretty penny with targeting your niche. With this your more able to be focused on what your target market is wanting and needing. On the other hand it is also less people to serve, so you can do a better job with these clients.

Another note to think about, is you don’t want to overwhelm your website visitor you want to provide them with solid information, providing to much on various topics can be intimating which usually means a click right our of the site with out the even want of a purchase or click through on a link depending on the intent of the site.

So building a business within a chosen niche or target market is possible I know several different people in various niches are are doing very well for themselves and families. Will your business bloom over night by choosing a niche? In a word No, But focusing your business and your passion it will be easier to get where you want to be faster then trying to serve everyone and your chances of success is so much higher going with your target market.
