Everyone longs for stress free cooking, especially when it comes to cooking for large crowds. Here are 10 simple tips to keep your cooking stress free.

1.	Plan ahead – It is important to have a plan ahead of time, especially if you are cooking for a large group. Planning ahead keeps you from having to make split-second decisions when you are supposed to be cooking.

2.	Prep ahead – Once you have your plan, it is important to begin to prep as soon as possible. This can be done several days in advance. For instance, if you have to dice a bunch of vegetables, you can probably get that done two to three days in advance and store them for use. Same with making stock or broth; make it a week in advance and freeze for use. Prior prep work makes for a smooth cooking day.

3.	Don’t be overly ambitious – Just because you think you can pull off a full five course professional meal with one oven and a dog that eats crumbs off the floor, doesn’t mean you need to show off your skills for the first time with 30 hungry people waiting. Keep your meals simple yet elegant and not only will your stress levels be down, but so will the stomach growling of your family and friends.

4.	Time plan – One of the hardest things to accomplish is getting everything ready on time so it comes out hot, all at once. This is a simple thing to figure out, but many people don’t take the time to think about this ahead of time. Take a look at what you need to cook, how you are going to cook it, (i.e. stove, oven, crock pot) and how long it takes to cook. Once you have those figures, just walk back from the time you are supposed to have company in order to figure out when you need to put stuff on or take it off.

5.	Use simple recipes – Using one pot, or simple recipes that do not call for a mess, can keep your life simple as peach cobbler (which also uses one pan). The fewer pans you use, the better off you will be. There will be less to clean up and less you need to worry about finishing at the same time.

6.	Clean as you go – Not every recipe calls for single pan usage, so if you have to dirty more than one pan, cleaning as you go will reduce stress big time. Keeping your area clean is a major stress reducer, especially once the food is cooked and ready.

7.	Music – Listening to music is another great way to take the stress out of the kitchen. Studies have shown that music actually helps to calm the system and remove stress.

8.	Reduce movements – While music might take the mental stress out of the picture, reducing your movements will help to take the physical stress off. Grab a trash bowl to put on your counter and throw everything in there so you are not walking back and forth to the trashcan. Organize your kitchen to help you find things quickly and lower the stress level every time you don’t move.

9.	Delegate – Stress usually happens because you have too much stuff to do and not enough time to do it. If you have any children, now would be a good time to delegate and distress. Having some people to help you out can reduce stress quickly and efficiently.

10.	Clean out your fridge ahead of time – Nothing is more stressful than ending a fantastic meal, only to find out there is no room in your fridge for the leftovers. Having a clean fridge will help reduce the after-party stress. A clean fridge mans less wok for you and less chaos trying to keep the food from spoiling.

By following some, or all, of these simple tricks, you can distress your cooking. Grab your knife and cutting board; flip on some tunes and start whipping up a storm of scrumptious goodies.

It is important to be prepared for whatever life throws at you. One way you can do this is to have a well-stocked first aid kit. Emergencies come in all sizes from your child falling off a bike, stepping on glass, or even getting stung by a bee. You can buy a first aid kit or build your own. Just remember that often times we go through the items and forget to refill it. What we do is keep a list on the door of the shelf we keep the first aid kit on to write down what was used that way the supplies can be added to the weekly shopping list. Keep an eye on expiration dates and refresh them as needed.

What items should you include?

Depending upon who you ask, the following is a list of items everyone should have available for emergencies. The American Red Cross suggests having at the very least:

* Adhesive bandages or band aids. You’ll want to have various sizes available for whatever injuries could be sustained.

* Sterile gauze pads in a variety of shapes and sizes. These are for cleaning wounds and covering those which can’t be covered with standard bandages. You’ll also need some adhesive tape to secure the pads.

* Disposable latex-free gloves. These will protect you from getting bodily fluids in cuts or scrapes. Being latex-free will help you or those you’re working on avoid allergic reactions.

* Tweezers are often needed to remove splinters.

* Thermometer is needed to check temperatures. The best choice for speed and accuracy as well as being much safer than thermometers with mercury.

* Triple-antibiotic ointment to use on wounds after they have been cleansed. It isn’t necessary to get a name brand as generic versions are as effective and cost less. The ointment will keep wounds from becoming infected.

* Antiseptic wipes will cleanse a wound.

* Instructions for basic first aid treatment.

* Antihistamine cream to use on allergic reactions, stings or itchy skin. Hydrocortisone is another type of cream to have handy.

* Over-the-counter pain reliever. You may want to keep pediatric and adult formulas available at all times. You may want to include both acetaminophen and ibuprofen as they work differently within the body. These will help relieve pain as well as lower fevers.

* A face mask to protect you and others from germs. A mouth-guard for protecting you while administering CPR is also a good item to have included in your first aid kit.

* Sunscreen, SPF 15 or higher, is also a good item to keep in your first aid kit. These are particularly important for use on children younger than six months of age as their skin is so delicate and easily burned.

* Instant use cold packs are helpful in reducing swelling from injury as well as minor burns and bites. These are inert until squeezed and then they become cool.

Once you have your first aid kit items gathered, you will want some place to store them. While you can purchase a pre-filled first aid kit, that’s not your only option. Purchase a small tackle box and fill the kit with items you deem necessary as well as with the items recommended by others.

As a business owner, your job is to help your business to grow. To do that you need to network with others in business who can give you a leg up so to speak. For online businesses, driving traffic to your website puts your target market right in line with your product. But, there are only twenty-four hours in a day to get it all done.

As a business owner, you have several skills. One of those skills is what your business is based around. If you know how to craft, then crafting is a logical business. If you have expertise in Internet marketing then helping others to take advantage of your knowledge is a business in itself. The point is that your skills are being put to good use.

Everything that you do in business is not in your area of expertise. For instance, business owners have to keep up with their finances, taxes, website maintenance, creating fresh content and several other duties. To wear all of those hats, and do it successfully, you’d have to be several people.

Since there is no such thing as a duplicating machine for humans, you are going to need help. Spending all day answering emails or setting up an autoresponder program or building your website leaves no time to actually build your business.

Outsourcing

There is an answer to your dilemma. It goes by the name of “outsourcing”. We’ve all heard of it. It’s what big corporations do when they build factories in other countries to make their products. Even online business owners can outsource to save themselves both time and money.

When you work solo, building your online business and advertising your products, it leaves less time for administrative tasks. Even breaking up your day into blocks of time to spend time on all your tasks can be counterproductive. Your loss of time actively seeking new business equals loss of profit.

You can find others who have made it their business to aid the business professional. These people are virtual assistants, freelance accountants, bookkeepers, graphic designers and affiliate managers to name a few.

Virtual assistants are not glorified secretaries but professional business men and women who have built up a skillset that is valuable in the online business world. They can type letters, send emails, handle customer service, build websites, write copy and press releases and a host of other duties. It is like having an entire office of people in one person.

If you are thinking about money, compare the cost of you doing something for three hours that will take them one. And, virtual professionals are paid for the work that they do. If they work for an hour on your project, then you pay them for an hour. There is no padding the overhead. In the meantime, you are handling the business end of your business.

Do you need help growing your business? Consider outsourcing to lighten your load so you can pay attention to other things.

Do you have the gift of gab and a lot of knowledge to share? Then you can promote your website business for next to nothing. That has to sound good especially if you don’t have a lot of money to spend on advertising right now.

Internet Forums

Forums are places where people with similar interests can meet, exchange information and chat online. To become a member of an Internet forum you usually have to sign up on a membership site. This doesn’t involve any money. Sites want to keep up how many members they have.

The sites include other perks and ways to join in but the forum is where most people go to congregate and talk. You can use these forums to not only promote your website but also get a little extra that can add up to big benefits for your business.

Here’s how they work. Once you join the membership site, you can access the forum by creating a username and password. When you log in, you have access to all the different topics and threads (each conversation started by forum members).

Choosing Forums

Not just any forum will do. You want to find forums that pertain to your target market. For instance, if you sell lighting fixtures, you’ll want to look for DIY (do-it-yourself) forums for a start. Also, look into forums for contractors and builders. They certainly use lighting fixtures in their line of work.

In these forums, half of the work is done for you. You are already accessing your target market, but the rest is up to you. That is why conducting yourself well on these forums is an important cog that makes this type of website promotion run smoothly.

Using the Forum

Before you jump into talking about your business, think about one thing. If the tables were turned and you were just a regular forum member, what would build your trust and what would break it down? People spamming would probably make you mad, but people who participate and also help others, would inspire your trust.

Interact with people in the forum. There is a wealth of knowledge there. You can offer expert advice and get help yourself. Their advice to you can help you implement changes that benefit your business.

Use your signature line to promote your website. Include a link here along with your name. The more you post in existing threads and your own, people whose trust you gain will begin to click on that link and check out your website.

Internet forums that cater to your target market have a two-fold benefit. First, they help you get in touch with the type of person you seek for your business and second, you can establish yourself as an expert and use your signature line to promote your website.

There are many things that a large number of people share; one of those is a desire to eat chocolate. What many don’t realize is the science behind the love of chocolate. Besides being smooth, sweet, and fun to eat, there’s a chemical reason why people enjoy eating it so much.

Food is absolutely necessary for life. Many people don’t realize how sharing certain foods such as chocolate can draw us together. Not only does it nourish the body, but it nourishes the soul and is often associated with feeling good about ourselves.

Chocolate is made from the beans of the cacao plant. And, in the past chocolate was used as an herbal medicine. It was used to treat poor sex drive, depression, and fatigue as well as helping reduce weight gain. What ancient Latin Americans instinctively knew, modern scientists are beginning to learn.

Chocolate is full of antioxidants which are good for you, called polyphenols. Some of the main ingredients found in the raw form of chocolate, cocoa, are flavonoids such as catechin, epicatechin, and procyanidins. It is the catechin and epicatechin which help the body maintain health. Dark chocolate and cocoa have more of these polyphenols than milk or other chocolates.

Recent medical studies have proven that chocolate can help improve your cardiovascular health. Improvement of the arteries can be seen as early as three hours after eating chocolate. The improvements can be seen both in those eating dark chocolate as well as those ingesting cocoa; however, it is important to note that most commercially available cocoas will not provide these health benefits because the flavonoids have been removed.

Cacao has been described as the “food of the Gods” by the ancient Maya. Scientists are finally realizing the beneficial aspects of chocolate in relation to physical, mental, and emotional health. One ounce of dark chocolate a day can improve a person’s vigor and energy by up to 67% and in many cases much higher percentages.

Chocolate also contains the amino acids tryptophan, phenylalanine, and tyrosine. All of these amino acids increase the serotonin levels in the brain which acts as an antidepressant. In addition to the amino acids listed above, chocolate has also been proven to act as a stimulant due to the substance theobromine.

Many people may be surprised to learn chocolate, when taken in small amounts and with higher levels of cocoa, can actually help you lose weight. If the antidepressant amino acids and stimulant theobromine can improve the way a person feels, they may be less likely to overeat. Chocolate can also act as an appetite suppressant which can speed up your metabolism.

When you learn about the science behind the love of chocolate, you may think you can eat it to your heart’s desire. As long as you’re eating darker chocolate with higher percentage of cocoa without the dairy fat and sugar, you can enjoy the taste and the health benefits.
