1. Post lots of content, and do it often. For one thing, readers like to read blogs that have fresh content published regularly. It’s hard for a reader to get into following you if you only post once in a great while. They don’t have to be monster posts, they just need to be timely and relevant. Also keep in mind that search engines also like to see you publish fresh content often. This is something for some, like me, it takes practice.

2. Put your longtail keywords in your post titles so that people searching those words on a search engine will find your post. It’s nice to have as many people as possible read your posts since you’ve gone to all the work to write and post them – so think of your current readers as well as what you need to do to bring in some organic traffic.

3. Before you even put together a blog post, decide what you want the outcome of that post to be. Is it to promote an affiliate product or your own product? Is it meant to stir up a little controversy so that you get lots of comments and it goes viral? Is it to establish yourself as THE expert? Is it to leak some information and prime the pump before your product launch? You can give solid, valuable information in your post as well as have it point in the direction you want your readers to go next.

4. Keep your blog design pleasing to the eye and structure it so the person coming to your blog isn’t confused as to what he or she should do. What do you want them to do? Read your post then subscribe or buy something? Read your post, laugh at your wit, then go away? Don’t read your post, just click on the AdSense? Whatever you want them to do, don’t have your blog layout so confusing they don’t know where to turn next.

5. Use PLR to help you post more often. A PLR article might give you a spark of an idea for a blog post or you might take some PLR and lightly rewrite it to add your own personality. Either way, it can help you take action and get you publishing your blog on a regular basis.

6. Learn from other great bloggers how to blog. There is always something to learn, whether you’ve been blogging a short while or a long time. Subscribe to the best blogs, listen to what they have to say, and analyze everything about those blogs so you can make yours better.

7. Find out which WP plug ins will make your blog friendlier to the search engines as well as to people. Readers like plug ins like Comment Luv because it means if they leave a comment on your blog, their last blog post link will show under their comment. This encourages more comments, which is a good thing.

These are some of my favorite blogging tips. There is always more you can do with your blog to make it better, even if you’ve been blogging for years. So keep on learning, testing, tweaking, and posting.

A blog is actually an online journal of sorts. With a blog you can upload daily posts about anything that you want. Some people create personal blogs as a way to keep in touch with family members. Pictures, videos and other information are uploaded so your loved ones are current with what is going on with you.

Here we are going to talk about business blogs. This is a blog that you begin to attract traffic in order to sell products or services. To be interesting to others, your blog will need to:

• Have updated content for visitors
• Be marketed to draw traffic
• Register with search engines so it can be found in the rankings

How to Start

If you are new to blogging, use a free blogging platform to get your feet wet. Sites like Blogger.com, WordPress.org, Blogspot.com and others offer free blogs to users. Depending on the site you choose, the themes and plug-ins (added features) will vary. Most will walk you through the process step by step so that you can be up and running in no time.

Before you start posting, decide what will be the theme, or niche of your blog. A jack-of-all-trades type of blog doesn’t do as well as one that is geared towards a certain niche. If you like crafts, that can be your niche. Create posts that talk about how to craft, what to craft, how to make crafting profitable and so on. Once you have decided on a path, it is time to create that great content.

How to Make Money

In order to make money with your blog, you need to have people visiting it. That is where marketing comes in. to draw traffic you have to get the word out about your blog. Tell all of your friends and family members that you are online with your blog for a start.

Any money-making venture will take place once you have built your readership with interesting posts. Then you can put into play a number of profitable additions:

• Google AdSense
• Selling Advertising
• Affiliate Marketing
• EBook Marketing

The simplest one to pursue is Google AdSense. You are using targeted advertisements to create revenue for your blog. You are paid per clicks on the ads.

There are other options where you can get paid when someone makes a sale on that website. That is more likely to happen when you join an affiliate program. Join affiliate programs that work well with your website niche.

EBooks are short downloadable electronic books that you can create yourself and sell on your website. They can be on a variety of subjects but in order for them to sell, you must be able to offer new information to your customers.

With the reasons for blogging different here is a list of different reasons that moms choose to blog to help you decide what your main motivation is. When deciding keep in mind that you can have more then one this is not a limited journey.

1. Keep in touch with family and friends. Many of the mom blogs on the Internet won’t take off virally like the ones you read about. They are created as a way to share photos of the new baby and stories about his or her activities. For soldiers overseas and family members living miles apart, using webcams and blogs help them to stay connected with their family.

2. Sharing knowledge with other women is important. Moms crave interaction with other moms and women in general. There is no handbook for perfect child rearing so moms share what they have learned or situations they are in and need advice about on their blogs. If even one mom’s life is changed for the better then it was well worth the effort.

3. Sharing stories about kids. When you upload photos into cyberspace, remember that these photos could end up anywhere else on the Internet. Avoid posting embarrassing pictures of your children or anything that you wouldn’t want shown anywhere else.

4. Take the good with the bad. As a blogger, you are going to get feedback. Everyone won’t be complementary with their opinions of your views on life and the world. Be prepared for negative feedback and crazy people. It can be disconcerting the first time but you’ll develop a thick skin as you strive to make a difference.

5. Make a few bucks online. There are many ways to monetize a blog. Joining affiliate programs can bring you money as you blog away about your favorite topic – your family. There is nothing wrong with making money while you blog. The problem is coming in when moms make money with their blog posts, specifically product reviews that are a result of company freebies and monetary compensation. This isn’t to say product reviews shouldn’t be done and free products shouldn’t be accepted, but be honest about what you review. If you didn’t like something about a product, say so. Remember, you have readers who are counting on you to be honest with them…don’t sell them out just to make a few dollars.

6. Being true to yourself. At the end of each day, you will have to look at yourself in the mirror. Will you like what you see? Some believe that mom bloggers are selling out to the corporations. If you are not, maintain your integrity even in the event of company courting. It is not a crime to take free merchandise. Make sure that you inform your readers about the free items and give your honest opinion in the review, good or bad.
