We were fond of drawing cute little dollies on cardboards and cutting them off to make paper dolls. My mom would do the cutting and we’d do the coloring. We had so much fun on designing the different clothes that our dolls will wear. Yup, there were no barbies yet at that time–or my mom hid them to us because they’re pricey. Anyway, our paper dolls were a lot of fun

I remember being imaginative as a child as well. I don’t think I wanted a lot of toys, I would have been happy with a cardboard box – I used to be quite creative!

Toys that challenge kids imagination and creativity are toys that can teach them new skills. Further more playtime will be different each time.

Research has shown that children playing imaginary games or with imaginary companions have an advantage in language development and they are more likely to score better later in life both socially and emotionally. They tend to retain knowledge faster than children without them. This is probably due to the fact that they either get more linguistic practice conversing with their imaginary friends or the opportunity to practice the adult roles in their imaginary games.
