Helping Others During the Holidays

With many people wondering how they can share the [tag]Christmas Spirit[/tag], giving and sharing with those who are less fortunate. A sad realization is with this [tag]Christmas season[/tag] more people are more in the giving mood and there are those who are out to take advantage of that. Sharing with others is a good thing in reality it helps those we help as well as ourselves, But we do have to watch the crooks and scam artists that are out there thrilled because the season is here which means more people to take advantage of, and in the end taking things away from those who really need the help.

These vultures are getting better every year, coming in your email and your house mail boxes using techniques such as faking real organizations such as Salvation Army, Churches and more. The mailings are not from real groups at all. One thing you will notice with all scam emails is the wording, and misspellings. Sad thing is many people try to help these organizations but no one is really being helped with what you send.

Please know that I think that giving a sharing is a good thing, and helping those who really need help is a great way to spread the Spirit of Christmas and making our local areas a better place take one good deed to get things started. We also need to be aware of making sure that our donation dollars are being made to the proper places that will put the money and gifts in the hands of those in need.

One thing I do is any and all asking for help I just disregard, then look for a good organization in my local area by Googling or searching the yellow pages and contribute from there. That way I know for a fact that what I am giving is really helping others the way it should.

Another thing that is worth a try is the giving tree you get a name of a child, some places have names of everyone in the family sorted by age group. And buy a gift for that name. It is usually the name, age and sizes. Something else that I feel is a good idea same basic idea is many women’s shelters have programs to adopt a family usually a Mom and a couple children then getting them each a gift or two.

You can create food baskets for families. Or it can be as simple as buying a few extra things on your menu and share with a local food bank. In a lot of areas right now you can get turkeys buy one get one free. Get that free one and give it to someone who don’t have one.

What other ideas do you have to help those who are less fortunate then us this holiday season?
