Family Dinners Are Important

Thank you for coming back to visit, Have you signed up for my newsletter to receive business and blogging tips? the sign up box is on the right.

Not sure about where you are but there is always commercials reminding us about the importance of family dinners.

Tonight it reminded me why, See we have dinners together every night DH is only missing when he is working that is the only time someone is missing. The boys both know that at dinner time your at the table if your eating or not. To me this 30+ minutes of the day is set aside from everything just to talk and discuss what is going on. Sometimes the conversations are silly, sometimes serious no matter the talk it helps us stay connected and keep the openness between us and the children.

Anyway, tonight my 6 year old mentioned a small issue with a boy at school while we were eating I sat back to see what everyone was going to say before offering mommy advice. Both the boys stepped up to plate, They helped him come up with ways to avoid fighting with this boy. They covered everything, I didn’t even have to say anything. Then Brendan looked at me and said are they right mom? I told him yes that is what I would say to, he got up gave me a hug and said thanks for teaching my brothers to be good big brothers.

Great post Tamara, we have always had family dinners. There are times when someone is not around but on the whole we eat dinner together. Now that my kids are all teens it seems like they eat in 5 minutes and then want to be excused. Arghh.. It is nice when they have friends over for the evening, because then we can get to know their friends also.

I really miss the family dinners. I remember when
my kids were little and when they were teen’s. Dang,
we sure did cover a lot at those dinners. And then
when they got married, there spouce would also get
involved in them. I LOVED those days. And miss
them so much. Injoy these times with your children,
they grow up and move on so fast. Before you know it,
they will be married and gone.

very much so! family dinners are almost the same as praying together, as the line goes “the family that prays together stays together”…

Family dinners have always been so important to me. When my daughter was in high school, I would make dinner at 4pm if necessary and I”d make it at 8pm if necessary. Whatever it took to all eat together.

  6. I also believe that dinner is important. It is a situation where in you share experiences and ask for advice. I love dinner because of the food and bonding together with family members specially kids.
