Cliques: Eight Steps to Help Your Child Survive the Social JungleAs the mom of four children three who are in school, I am always worried about cliques. They can be good on some levels and terrible on others. It is amazing the amount of peer pressure that children experience in today’s society. Cliques: Eight Steps to Help Your Child Survive the Social Jungle is a must have for those with children and will enlighten those who do not have children. The social pressures that our children deal with on a daily basis are ones that we as parents and adults must be aware of.

Outward appearances can be very deceiving and this book goes into great detail about that subject. Our children are experiencing struggles that they cannot express to us and we must be able to distinguish the signs in order to assist them in handling them.

Cliques takes the time to explain the meaning of a social jungle. It explains that bullies are not gender specific and that girls are becoming bullies as well. The book goes further to explain how these particular situations are essentially robbing our children’s self esteem and values. It is of great importance to have our children living in healthy environments but if they are placed in situations that will threaten them to teach them that they can stand tall and handle it.

Too many times, these situations are ignored and our children suffer and become insecure adults. They are insecure because they have never been taught how to face adversity and know that they can survive. These are scenarios that when taught appropriately a child can survive and continue to flourish. This is a great book and one that every parent should read.

  1. My son is 18 and in college. He had an extremely tough time in high school. He tried to become close with a popular Clique and got rejected badly. He ended up resorting to the outcasts and these have become his best friends. They are good people thank god. We hope he has an easier time making friends in college.

We don’t have to worry about this for awhile with our 4 year old…

  2. thanks for the recommendation it looks great. I think as parents its great to have as much information in this area as possible because it can have a huge impact on our childrens lives. The more we can help or know how to deal with certian situations the better.
