This year a lot of things have been running in my mind about my childhood. And Christmas morning keeps popping Snow at our houseup, perhaps it is the fact that Christmas is 4 days away.  I remember waking up to to these amazing gifts then a warm breakfast then hours of playing till dinner time. No snow or heck even jackets we lived in So California.

Now as a mom of four I do what I can so when my children are my age they can sit and their memories of Christmas are the same just great presents a yummy breakfast and hours of play time, except here we have over 2.5 feet of snow in the back yard already and today is the first day of winter go figure.

hot chocolateSo each Christmas morning we start with waking up about 7am no earlier then 6:30am Coffee and hot chocolate while we open presents.  Then I cook Biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs and coffee cake. The rest of the morning the kiddos spread playing with their games, and toys or taking naps. I start dinner while Ned helps open all the packages and breaks all the twist ties and things freeing the toys out of the packages. Then he usually hits the sack since he works graves usually on Christmas night so I sit and play with the kiddos and testing out my presents.

The day can be crazy with all four of them yelling ‘Mom Check this out’ or ‘Mom look at this’ But in the end its All ok. They are excited about the day and wanting to spend time with mom and having fun.

This is a peek at our Christmas morning. What traditions do you have for Christmas morning?

For the past 6ish years we’ve had my parents over for brunch on Christmas morning so the kids can stay in their jammies and play with their toys. But alas, work schedules don’t work out this year.

Our schedule is much like yours. Usually waffles. This year we are having a sugary start to the day. It’s just the kids and I, Daddy has to be at work before 8. I’m making sundae’s for breakfast, literally. Chocolate chip pancakes, scoops of vanilla ice cream, whip cream, strawberries and bananas. We are excited, doesn’t it just sound so sinful? lol

I love family time. This is something that kids will always remember. Sounds like you all have such a wonderful day. :)

We have Jess open his presents after he drags out of be so early in the morning. We still have our bed hair at this time mind you. lol! But then we all sit around playing with his toys/gifts. We have him pose with each so can send a Thank you e-card to the family in other states. Then we all sit down and have left overs. Normally it’s Tamales w/coffee. Then we all sit to watch old Christmas movies. Can’t wait till Joe makes Tamales, I wait all year long to eat them at Christmas. :)

We make cinnamon rolls every Christmas to eat while we open presents. Our college kid drags herself out of bed, enjoys the presents and the family time, then goes back to bed until noon. :) This year we didn’t get the cookies decorated ahead of time, so we finished frosting and decorating cookies Christmas afternoon!
