Yesterday I mentioned different reasons its a good idea to use article directories. Today I want to share with you what you shouldn’t do when submitting articles. A lot of times these are in the guidelines, then other times its not really covered.
I have seen a lot of times that people do a few things wrong. I honestly thought there was not a wrong way to do this but I have seen several so called articles that were just wrong. I am sharing three of the biggest mistakes that I have seen a lot lately. Some people have considered these methods as spam.
1. When you begin writing articles, please do not write an ad Yes ads do have their place but not in an article directory. The point of the article may be to sell something however if it sounds like advertisement chances are it will get declined. Articles are meant to share information on a subject and help others on that subject. The bottom line may be to get a sale or a visitor to your site but don’t make it sound like it. You are smart share what you know.
2. Tons of links I have seen a lot of these lately there are a lot of links in the article. I personal think there is no place for a links in an article you place in a directory. There are some articles such as resource articles that the links point to certain things and that is OK. However just links in the article are not cool in my opinion. I personally would not use an article that has them in there if I were visiting an article directory I would just skip it. Yes it is great to use a link or two in your resource box.
3. The resource box brings up my last thought on this; make sure it has a point. There should be a reason for them to click the link. I have seen resource boxes with no name, just a link to the site. I have seen some a little better that say ‘for more information on XYZ visit’ which is better but that resource box is there to make the reader want to click so use it to the fullest extent that you can.
I realize these are Not the only reasons articles may get rejected. These are a few reasons I may reject an article.
In a few days I will be sharing ways to get your article accepted. So Be on the look out for that.
Until Next time

Great post Tamara – the only time I got an article rejected is when I was accused of keyword stuffing. When you are trying to explain what a term means you do tend to use it a lot. Luckily it only took a quick rewrite and they were fine with it the next time.
Katherine Reschke’s last blog post..Online backups – when was the last time YOU backed up your files?
Thats great a rewrite was successful.
I agree when you are explaining and getting in to detail about things the word will come up more often.
